What do cities require in order to be fit for the future in the age of the »knowledge society«? How do we design innovative spaces for science, education, and lifelong learning? And what new forms of knowledge transfer and networking can help to advance urban development?

On to the Finale!

To mark its finale after ten years of running, IBA Heidelberg invites you to debate these questions under the motto »Knowledge Creates Cities« in a central exhibition and with a broad supporting program featuring over 50 events. In partner exhibitions, lectures, conferences, discussions, guided walks, and construction site tours in Heidelberg, Mannheim, and elsewhere in the region, you can discover the projects, processes, and findings of the IBA – and join the debate about how architecture and building culture can help to answer the pressing questions of tomorrow.

The central events are the vernissage »Finale!« and the IBA kick-off conference »How does knowledge create a city?« on April 29, the exhibition »How does a knowledge city work?« from April 29 to June 26 in the new Karlstorbahnhof and the IBA closing conference »What does the knowledge city of tomorrow need?« The closing event will be the IBA closing party at the Energy and Future Storage Facility on July 8.

All events are held in German. If you are interested, please check our German event calendar for more information.

THANK YOU!

The IBA is made up of the many people who have worked and continue to work throughout the city and beyond for Heidelberg as the "Knowledge City of Tomorrow". We would like to take this opportunity to thank all these people for ten years of good cooperation. They are also the ones whose commitment and support have made this program possible. The city of Heidelberg deserves our very special thanks.

We would also like to express our special thanks to the generous sponsors, patrons and cooperation as well as media partners of the final presentation, without whom the IBA Heidelberg Finale would not have been possible.
